Protect
Conservation helps sustain a high quality of life and protects fragile and rare natural resources. As population growth affects the Southern Appalachians, we must balance preservation of undeveloped land with the needs of people who live, work, and visit this incredible region. Otherwise, we risk literally ‘loving these mountains to death.’
Steward
In conservation, stewardship refers to the ongoing commitment to care and protection of the land. This is a “forever” commitment, a dedication to consistently monitor conservation easements and nature preserves and to manage and restore habitat.
Connect
The best way to learn about conservation is to experience it for yourself. That could mean joining us for a guided hike to protected places, pitching in for a volunteer work day, finding yourself in an outdoor classroom, hosting your own special event at the SAHC Community Farm, exploring public parks and trails that SAHC has helped protect, learning how to grow food, and much more!
