Nestled on the south side of the Newfound Mountain Range, just 5 miles north of the charming Town of Canton, lies the Rough Creek Watershed—an expansive 870-acre oasis of natural splendor. Owned by the Town of Canton, this beautiful property is a testament to the region’s commitment to preserving its scenic landscapes. What’s more, this little-known gem of an outdoor destination is open to the public, inviting hikers and mountain bikers alike to discover its beauty year-round. The Rough Creek Watershed Trail System is comprised of 3 trails of various distances, totaling 10+ miles.
SAHC was instrumental in the protection of this expansive conservation easement held by the Clean Water Management Trust Fund, co-managed with SAHC and owned by the Town of Canton. Our Stewardship Team monitors the conservation easement each year, to ensure that the land and water resources will continue to be protected for future generations.
