Snow Moon Night Hike

Date:  Tuesday, February 19
Time:  4 pm – 7 pm
Difficulty:  Moderate (4 on a scale of 10) — 2 miles
Cost: Free but registration required

Join the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and Southeast Program Director of the Defenders of Wildlife, Ben Prater as we celebrate the release of Highland Brewing Company’s Midnight Summit seasonal with a full moon night hike up to Max Patch. Max Patch, located in Pisgah National Forest and SAHC’s French Broad River Valley Focus Area, offers hikers panoramic views of the surrounding area including five SAHC protected lands covering over 360 acres. Participants will have a brief, steep hike to the top of the bald to enjoy a beautiful sunset and a lesson on the history and ecology of red wolves in the Appalachian mountains before the moonrise at 6:30 pm. Once the moon is in the sky, Ben will lead us all in a group howl in honor and remembrance of North Carolina’s native wolf species.
