2018 Birds and Beer

Date: Tuesday May 22

Time: 4:00- 7:00 pm

Location: New Belgium Brewing Company, Asheville, NC

Cost: FREE for all participants. Registration is required.

Join us for our first “Birds and Beer” walk with New Belgium Brewing Company!

Have you ever wondered what species of birds live along the French Broad River? The “Birds and Beer” walk is a great way to learn about local birds while spending time at a fun brewery in Asheville. Our leisurely walk will take place along a 1-mile stretch of the French Broad River Greenway, just behind the New Belgium brewery. This walk is for beginner birders and is family friendly.

Working with the City of Asheville, this award-winning stretch of greenway was carefully designed by our corporate partners at Equinox Environmental with the values of New Belgium Brewing.  The greenway and brewery landscape design integrate stormwater management, stream restoration services, and natural corridors for local wildlife into an urban setting. Thanks to their conscious effort to preserve and improve urban habitats, we are able to view wildlife here daily!

Due to the educational nature of the walk, we will have two separate walks starting at different times to create smaller group sizes. Each group will be led by an experienced birder that will cover topics such as bird identification and birding basics.  Please indicate on the registration form below which time slot you prefer.

Group 1: 4:30-5:30

Group 2: 5:45-6:45

Before or after your walk, feel free grab a beer in the courtyard and stop by  the SAHC booth to learn more about our local conservation work and how you can get involved.

This event is BYOB (Bring your own Binoculars)
