Dave and Maureen’s Wedding
“I couldn’t believe I got to marry such a fox!”
Tell us your love story, how did you two meet?
We met on Bumble while living in the Bay Area. We both swiped right had a great first date over drinks and pizza, and the rest is history! Over the next two years, we moved in together, explored the west coast with our dog, sheltered in place, moved across the country to NC, and got married!
Why did you choose the SAHC Community Farm as your wedding venue?
We were familiar with the farm because a non-profit that Dave’s parents were involved in holding an event there. We also knew we wanted a small, outdoor wedding surrounded by nature. The SAHC Community Farm allowed us to do that while supporting a great organization with an important mission.
Which photo do you love the most?
Did you have a theme for your wedding? Tell us about it!
We went for a romantic foresty feel with ferns and natural accents, combined with a focus on COVID safety. We had a very small guest list with social distancing, and gave “Spread love not germs” hand sanitizers as favors.
What did you love most about having your wedding at the Community Farm?
We loved the natural feeling of the venue with the giant tree and the mountains in the distance while being very accessible to all of our guests who were staying in the Asheville area. It was beautiful and low-key. The pictures ended up looking great!
Tell us about some special elements of your wedding that you loved and the vendors who made that happen for you.
All of our vendors knocked it out of the park. We have a special affinity for pies and knew we wanted a wedding pie instead of cake. Baked Pie Company made a delicious mixed berry pie for us to cut, and assorted mini pies for our guests. Everyone raved about the food provided by Homegrown Catering. It was the perfect homage to southern soul food, and we spent our minimoon polishing off the leftovers! Our fern centerpieces and flowers by Blue Ridge Blooms added beautiful color and texture to the event, and they even made a festive collar for our dog. Caroline from CarolynMarie photography captured it all beautifully!

What is your advice would you give to couples planning their wedding now?
1) Have a plan for inclement weather. 2) Delegate all wedding day tasks to a few trusted friends/family members so you can just enjoy the moment 3) Double check that you have your wedding license with you on your wedding day, then check again! Despite being hyper-organized, we forgot ours at our rental house. Oops!
