Our group decided to escape the heat down low in Asheville, so we headed up to the Black Balsam area. A quick hike to the top of Sam Knob took us to a great location for a holiday picnic lunch in temperatures that called for long sleeves. It was great kickoff to the day, followed by a drive back down to Kanuga for fireworks over the lake.
