DESCRIPTION:This January\, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy is proud to be The Hub and Pisgah Tavern‘s nonprofit partner of the month! We’re so excited to team up with an iconic gathering place for outdoor recreation lovers in WNC. As part of the collaboration\, SAHC will be tabling at The Hub from 3 to 6 PM on Friday\, January 17. Staff will be there to answer questions\, share materials\, and raffle off a new piece of For Love and Beer and Mountains merch for FREE. We hope to see you there! If you’re coming and are hungry for a bite to eat\, enjoy offerings from Smasheville‘s food truck. \nIn addition\, you can find SAHC’s NEW “For Love of Beer and Mountains” merchandise\, hats\, and beanies available for purchase at The Hub all month long! The Hub will generously be donating all proceeds from the merchandise directly to SAHC.

DESCRIPTION:Date: Friday\, January 24th\nTime: Starting at 10:00 AM\nWhere: Elk Hollow Preserve\nDistance: 2 mile\nDifficulty: Moderately strenuous (6/10)\, This includes steep inclines and slippery surfaces.\nRegistration: Pre-registration is REQUIRED\nCome enjoy a delightful walk through the Elk Hollow Preserve along the Everett J. Bowman Memorial Trail during our Coldest Day of the Year Hike! This scenic route will guide us through stunning forests of oaks\, maples\, and beech trees\, as well as vibrant meadows perfect for birdwatching. The Preserve is home to a variety of rare wildlife\, such as Golden-winged Warblers\, Southern Appalachian brook trout\, and Gray’s lilies. In addition\, SAHC has set up a camping platform\, a well-maintained trail system\, and a moldering privy to make your visit even more enjoyable. \nThe Elk Hollow Preserve is located about 1.5 hours north of Asheville\, NC\, and an hour from Johnson City\, TN. Please plan your trip accordingly! \nThis event is FREE for SAHC members and $10 for non-members.
