Join SAHC for a Smith Farm Clean-up and Campfire day!
On the Smith Farm Conservation Easement with Bailey Mountain Park, we will be teaming up with Bailey Mountain Park for a volunteer work day in Mars Hill this coming Sunday, December 8th starting at 12:30pm. This work day will consist of cleaning out old barns near the base of the property.
Bailey Mountain Park is a 250+ acre joint property between the town of Mars Hill and SAHC and has deep, historical connections with Mars Hill University. The park consists of many trails for the public to use and is a source for environmental studies for the students of Mars Hill University. Cleaning out these barns will help assist Bailey Mountain Park in its restoration and development to promote outdoor recreation and educate future generations on the Appalachian environment.
Beginning at 12:30, come prepared for cleaning up loose debris, old barn wood, and farm artifacts. At the end of the day, we will have a campfire and cook-out, and continue getting to know each other.
Details for the cookout will be forthcoming.
