Be one of the first people to set foot on the newly protected Flatwoods Pasture property – a new addition to our farmland protection work in the Sandy Mush area! We will hike roughly 3/4 of a mile to the high-elevation pastures with beautiful, western-facing views from which we can enjoy the sunset. Hikers are welcome to bring food and beverages to enjoy a picnic if you would like – we will have about an hour between sunset and moonrise, during which time we will discuss our land protection work in the area. We will also be joined by Christian Hunt, the Southeast Program Associate with Defenders of Wildlife, who discuss the history of wolves and coyotes in the region and work being done on red wolf recovery. Finally, when the February “Snow moon” rises, we will have a group howl!
