On the final wildflower hike we will head to the 693-acre Hampton Creek Cove State Natural Area that is jointly managed by the state and SAHC! This area is known for its incredible biological diversity of plant and animal life. So far, 225 native plant species have been documented in the cove, as well as 78 bird species, including the golden-winged warbler. We will hike about three miles with a few steep sections. This is the only state natural area that is also a working farm.
This hike is part of the Wildflower Wednesday Hike Series, showcasing the incredible biodiversity in our region. The hikes will be on the last Wednesday of the month in March, April, May, and June. The Wildflower Wednesday Hikes will have representative from the Western North Carolina Botanical Club with us to help identify and learn about the flowers!
