Date: Wednesday, April 18
Time: 10:00am
Location: SAHC Community Farm, Alexander, NC
Join Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy for a volunteer workday at our Community Farm fifteen minutes outside of Asheville. This day will focus on planting a pollinator garden by our farm house. We will be planting all native species that once established, will create vital habitat for wildlife, especially pollinators like the birds and the bees!
After we finish working we will eat lunch and have the opportunity to take a walk on the Discovery Trail. On this 1.5 mile educational walk we will see our local bee hives as well as learn about the other ongoing projects. The Community Farm is 100 acres of protected land that was donated to SAHC in 2010 and is home to our farmer incubator program, as well as a multiple habitat restoration projects. Our Community Farm continues to serve as a model — balancing agricultural production with environmental responsibility while providing educational opportunities!
