Virtual Lunch & Learn – Human History of the South Yellow Mountain Preserve

Wednesday, June 10 at 12:00 pm EST

Join SAHC’s South Yellow Mountain Preserve Manager, Park Greer, for a virtual Lunch & Learn exploring the rich human history of the area. This presentation will trace the many ways people have lived with the rugged landscape, from Indigenous presence and early settlements to mining, logging, and farming.

Drawing from historical records, maps, photographs, and stories, Park will connect the preserve’s human history to the broader story of conservation in the Southern Appalachians. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how past generations lived, worked, traveled, and stewarded these mountains, and how that legacy continues to influence the landscape we experience today.

Join Park for a 2.5-mile hike on South Yellow Mountain on Saturday, May 30 at 9 am. More details and sign-up in your Webinar registration.
