Join us for the 2025 June Jamboree: Plant Inventory Walk at Little Rock Creek!
Explore the botanical wonders of SAHC’s Little Rock Creek Preserve with retired USFS botanist and ecologist Gary Kauffman and SAHC Stewardship Director Sarah Sheeran. This relatively easy 2-mile walk will meander through the preserve as the hike leaders identify and point out different species of flora. This plant inventory can tell us if there are any rare species and if they are being threatened by invasives, recreational impacts, or climate change. Knowing that about the populations in an area is important for protecting species and maintaining a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem. Plan on a leisurely, educational stroll!
This walk is perfect for anyone curious about native plants, local ecology, or simply looking to enjoy a peaceful moment outdoors surrounded by natural beauty. Afterwards, we hope participants will stick around for the SAHC post-hike drop-in social at our Little Rock Creek Preserve.
Thank you for your interest in this Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy event—we look forward to sharing the natural beauty of this special place and the meaningful conservation work happening here!
