Join the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy and ecoEXPLORE on February 12, for a collaborative farm tour and bird walk on the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy Community Farm. Participants will hike the farm’s Discovery Trail, led by SAHC Community Farm Associate Tamarya Sims and joined by WNC ecoEXPLORE Specialist Meghan McDevitt and Field Ornithologist Rebekkah LaBlue. Along the trail, hikers will be able to tour the farm’s cow pastures, vegetable areas, riparian areas, shortleaf pine restoration sites, and beautiful forested patches. All of this terrific diversity of habitats leads to a great variety of bird species present.
This hike is great for all ages 5+ and a terrific opportunity for youth education. The hike will also support ecoEXPLORE members working towards their ornithology badge! The ecoEXPLORE program is an initiative of The North Carolina Arboretum.
Please note that our Community Farm is not open to the public unless accompanied by SAHC staff.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Tamarya Sims, firstname.lastname@example.org, or Meghan McDevitt, email@example.com.
