Join our Land Protection Director Michelle Pugliese on a challenging road bike ride to celebrate the recent conservation of over 350 acres of the Weaverville Watershed. Starting at Weaver Park (200 Murdock Avenue) we will ride up Elk Mountain Scenic Highway, stopping at the top to learn about SAHC’s protection of the adjoining watershed. We will continue on the Blue Ridge Parkway and loop back down scenic back roads to Weaver Park. The strenuous road ride will be about 20 miles with over 3000ft of elevation gain, most of which is in the first half of the ride. This ride is intended for experienced road riders who are prepared for long steep climbs and steep descents. There will be an experienced bike mechanic with us; however riders should carry a tube. All riders must wear helmets. Post-ride food and drinks at Luella’s are optional!
What to Bring: Bicycle, helmet, tube, snacks and one to two water bottles.
