Join Us for a Guided Hike at Bailey Mountain Preserve – Saturday, January 4th

Kick off the Winter Hiking Challenge with us at Bailey Mountain Preserve! Join the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC) for a guided hike through this stunning 250-acre protected area. Bailey Mountain, the highest peak visible from Mars Hill, is a significant landmark both historically and culturally, especially for Mars Hill University.

The Preserve is open to the public and offers six miles of scenic hiking trails, built and maintained by the dedicated volunteers of the Friends of Bailey Mountain. On this hike, we’ll be joined by some of the Friends group who will share their knowledge and passion for the area.

While Bailey Mountain is open to the public, pre-registration is required for this guided hike. You’ll receive a confirmation email upon registration, along with detailed information about the meeting location and event specifics 24-48 hours prior to the hike. Please note, this hike is not wheelchair accessible.

Bailey Mountain Preserve is protected by a conservation easement held by the North Carolina Land and Water Fund, with SAHC monitoring the property each year on their behalf. The Town of Mars Hill owns Bailey Mountain Park, and SAHC assisted with its acquisition in 2004.
