Members and friends are invited to join Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy for an Open House at our office just north of downtown Asheville! Enjoy breakfast bites and warm beverages, browse SAHC merchandise ahead of the holidays and chat with SAHC staff about our conservation work. If the parking lot is full, please park behind Moe’s Southwest Grill, located two businesses south of the SAHC office.
We’d love to know if you plan to attend, but feel free to drop by! Use the RSVP form below to let us know you’re coming.
We are so grateful to Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy’s dedicated membership for supporting our work! Members’ gifts are at the core of our work and enable critical land protection, cutting-edge stewardship, and connecting thousands of people with protected land. If you aren’t currently a member and are interested in learning more and making a gift, visit our Membership webpage.
If you have any questions, please reach out to Membership Director Cheryl Fowler at cheryl@appalachian.org or 828.253.0095 ext 209.

Artist Spotlight: Dayna Walton
Dayna came to love WNC through the Artist-in-Residence program of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in 2019. Since then she has been hiking and sketching and learning about ecology wherever she can. Her illustrations are a way of studying the creepy, crawly, tiny, often overlooked parts of nature. From slime molds and stoneflies, to lichens and liverworts, you’re sure to recognize some species from the Blue Ridge Mountains in her work. Her screen printed art and apparal is sold under the name Solstice Handmade.
SAHC began working with Dayna in the Fall of 2025 to design the Winter Hiking Patch. What started small has become an entire collection celebrating native and endemic Southern Appalachian species. Dayna makes our land protection and habitat restoration work come to life!
You can view the full SAHC X Solstice Handmade collection at our Open House on Thursday, November 19!
