As a member of SAHC you are helping to preserve some of the most unique habitat, clean water, scenic views, and local farms of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. We, that are fortunate enough to live here, know that we have the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Forest Service lands for open space. But what about our watersheds, our high elevation rare habitats, and family farms that are at risk for development? Who protects that? SAHC, your local land trust, offers a voluntary tool (conservation easements) to help landowners protect their land in perpetuity and allows our region to maintain a thriving ecosystem, destination for tourists and scenic homeplace for our families with clean water to drink and fresh local produce and meats to feed our families.
